New Medical Clinic Opens at Bradlee Shopping Center in Alexandria

A new medical clinic has opened at Bradlee Shopping Center in Alexandria. MedStar PromptCare and MedStar Medical Group opened Tuesday at 3610 King St., in the former space long occupied by Blockbuster Video.

The clinic offers two services, MedStar PromptCare and MedStar Medical Group.

MedStar PromptCare is described as an urgent care clinic, where no appointment is needed. The clinic offers medical care for most illnesses and injuries, as well as physicals for sports participation, summer camp and pre-employment. The physicians of MedStar PromptCare are always on site and no appointment is ever needed. We provide convenient access to medical care for people of all ages with day, evening, and weekend hours.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To reach the clinic, call (703) 845-2815.

When would you use PromptCare? Here’s what they suggest:

• If your primary care physician’s office is closed or is unable to see you.
  The clinic will communicate back to your primary care physician so your care becomes a part of your medical record.
  
• If you have any non-life threatening injury or illness during the day, after business hours or on a weekend or holiday.
• If you have a minor injury and you don’t want to wait in an Emergency Room for treatment.
• If you suspect you or your child may have a concussion after a sports-related accident.
• If you need a flu shot and it is the appropriate time to receive this immunization.
• If you need a physical for sports participation, summer camp, or pre-employment.

Call Ahead Program

MedStar PromptCare offers patients the opportunity to wait at home or elsewhere. Patients who utilize the Wait at Home option will be contacted approximately 30 minutes prior to the time in which they can be seen.

Wait at Home is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (up to two hours prior to our closing time) and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

MedStar Medical Group is described as a primary care clinic, with physicians who “provide high quality primary care for people of all ages. They accept most major insurance plans and welcome new patients, its Web site notes. Its hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
