Nominations For 2023 Celebrate Women Awards Sought In Alexandria
The Celebrate Women Awards will recognize young women in Alexandria who have made a positive impact on women and girls.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — In the midst of March's Women's History Month, nominations are open for the 2023 Alexandria Celebrate Women Awards.
The annual awards were first hosted in 2021 by Alexandria Celebrates Women, an organization founded by Gayle Converse and Pat Miller to celebrate the centennial of women's suffrage and honor women in Alexandria. The first awards ceremony in 2021 was a virtual event honoring women who helped care for Alexandrians during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event benefited the Alexandria Domestic Violence Safehouse.
The 2021 winners included Patricia Amaya, Alexandria Library's custodial supervisor; Gaynelle Bowden Diaz of the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority; Gee-Hyun McNease, a Defense Logistics Agency who volunteered for organizations in and around Alexandria; Cicely Woodrow, the chief fiscal officer for the Alexandria Sheriff's Office; and Anne Gaddy of the Alexandria Health Department.
