MIX: Adventures in Mixed Media art exhibit opens on Friday, May 1 and runs through May 31, 2015 at Del Ray Artisans gallery. Del Ray Artisans and Artistic Artifacts teamed up to curate this collaborative juried exhibit featuring artwork from area artists. The juror is Rosalee Lamanna, a mixed media artist and long-time owner of Alexandria’s Beads Ltd (www.beadsltdva.com). The exhibit “shakes up the imagination” as artists portray the popular mixed media movement using two or more mediums including paint, fiber, paper, graphite, sculpture, jewelry, found objects, quilts, altered books, and more.
The opening reception will be on Friday, May 1 from 7-9pm. During the reception, curators Karen Schmitz (Del Ray Artisans) and Judy Gula (Artistic Artifacts) will give several awards for MIX masterpieces and hand out fun prizes for best dressed guests in “MIX & Do Not Match” attire. So, get your plaids and stripes out of your closet!
