Pedestrian Killed In Arlandria, Driver Charged: Police

A driver has been charged in a crash that killed a pedestrian, and over $15,000 has been raised for the victim's family.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Police have made an arrest after a pedestrian was killed in a crash Saturday night in Arlandria.

The crash happened around 8:10 p.m. in the 200 block of West Glebe Road, which is around the intersection with Mount Vernon Avenue. Police determined a single vehicle had struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately released due to next of kin notification.

The driver remained at the scene and was not injured. Police issued a warrant for an involuntary manslaughter charge against the driver, Fredy Ortiz-Dominguez, 45, of Hyattsville, Maryland. Ortiz-Dominguez turned himself in to police Thursday and is being held without bail at the Alexandria Detention Center.

While the victim was not publicly identified by police, a GoFundMe has been started for the victim's family. Within a few days, over $15,000 has been raised.
