Plans Moving Forward To Build New HQ Building At Potomac Yard

The American Physical Therapy Association plans to relocate from Old Town to a new seven-story building in Potomac Yard.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The American Physical Therapy Association's proposal to move its headquarters from Old Town Alexandria to a new building in Potomac Yard is making progress. A public meeting on the detailed plans is set for Wednesday, Jan. 24.

The association has released plans on constructing a new office building at 3030 Potomac Avenue next to the Target at the Potomac Yard shopping center. The seven-story, 117,000-square-foot building will be next to the National Industries for the Blind building, which is now under construction and near the future Potomac Yard Metro Station.

The 108-foot-tall building will have a main entrance on Potomac Avenue and include three levels of lower level parking, an upper level terrace, fitness center, plaza and more.

The APTA, a professional membership organization for physical therapists, is currently located in Old Town Alexandria at 1111 N Fairfax Street. According to the Washington Business Journal, the organization anticipates moving to the new location in 2021.

The Potomac Yard Design Advisory Committee's meeting on the proposal will be Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the The Station at Potomac Yard (650 Maskell Street).
