Police Investigate Third Homicide Of 2018 In Alexandria

Detectives are now investigating a homicide in Alexandria Monday, June 23. An autopsy conducted Tuesday confirmed the death as a homicide.

Around 7:14 a.m., police were called to a residence in the the unit block of East Reed Avenue for a deceased person. Officers found an adult man with upper body trauma. The victim, Jerry Scott, 82, of Alexandria, was pronounced dead on the scene.

No suspects have been identified at this time. The body has been taken to the medical examiner's office. Expect police activity in the area.

This is the second suspicious death investigation within weeks in Alexandria. The discovery of a body inside an Old Town Alexandria business on July 13 quickly turned into a homicide investigation. Police made an arrest the same day.
