Pork Barrel BBQ Starts Kickstarter for Bacon Jerky

Three flavors will likely be coming out sometime this spring.

They’ve wrestled with the sharks on “Shark Tank,” basted and smoked their way to top awards at national barbecue competitions and welcomed diners to their eatery on “The Avenue.”

Now the folks at Pork Barrel BBQ, Brett Thompson and Heath Hall, have unveiled their latest challenge: Bringing bacon jerky to the masses, according to a new Kickstarter campaign created by the company to raise funds for the new venture.

Here’s what the company is saying on Facebook: ”Powered Flight. Man on the Moon. The Internet. And now…Bacon Jerky. We have spent the better part of the past year perfecting our line of Pork Barrel BBQ Bacon Jerky and now we are ready to share it with the world.

Pork Barrel decided to get into the bacon jerky business after wondering how they could turn one of their favorite foods into a convenient snack item that can be taken anywhere and carried in a pocket, a small bag or purse or a glove box.

So far, it looks like several flavors of bacon jerky will be out sometime this spring:

  • Spicy Sririachi
  • Old Fashioned Maple
  • Honey Pepper

They’ve even created a clever video to get their pitch across (watch below).
