Reception Friday for 18th Annual Student Art Exhibition in Del Ray

An opening reception is scheduled for Friday in Del Ray for an art exhibition organized by Del Ray Artisans and T.C. Williams High School Art Department.

Del Ray Artisans and the T.C. Williams High School Art Department will jointly present the 18th annual Student Art Exhibition, featuring artwork created by T.C. Williams High School students in grades 9-12.

The show is juried by artist and George Mason University School of Art faculty member Elsabé Dixon, a South-African born, Virginia-based artist who uses living environments to create art installations. Dixon recently served as artist-in-residence at the Artisphere in Rosslyn.

The reception on Friday is set for 7-9 p.m. at Del Ray Artisans gallery at the Nicholas A. Colasanto Center, 2703 Mt. Vernon Ave., and will welcome the staff, parents and students from T.C. Williams High School, as well as City of Alexandria officials and the general public.

In addition, a silent auction will be held during the exhibition to benefit the Ted Eichers Scholarship Fund, which awards a $1,000 scholarship each year to a T.C. Williams student who plans to study art in college. The show will run through April 26.

Gallery hours are: Thursdays Noon-6 p.m.; First Thursdays (May-September) Noon–9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays Noon-9 p.m. and Sundays Noon to 6 p.m.
