School for the Performing Arts classes - NOW OPEN

Fall registration for the Alexandria School for the Performing Arts (A.S.P.A.) is now open at The Salvation Army of Alexandria. These 45 minute classes are open to children 7 years & older with a unique 3-5 year old class as well. Descriptions of classes are listed below.

Please call (703) 836-2427 and speak to the Director, Cheryl-Jones Gage for registration or further questions. All classes are $70 per season and taught at The Salvation Army - 1804 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria.

Urban Pop Dance (Ages 7 & up; Wednesdays @ 6 pm)

This class is for the eager learner! An accelerated commercial hip hop class where you’ll learn all of the latest dance moves. The class core focus will be built upon learning daily combinations/routines while instilling technique and dance fundamentals.

Street Jazz (Ages 7 & up; Wednesdays @ 7 pm)

Jazz and Broadway meet street style dance in this consisting of turns, intricate formations, and detailed choreography. The student will learn how to dance for the big stage in this exciting 9-week course.

Dance Fundamentals (Ages 7 & up; Wednesdays - time TBD)

A combination of calisthenics, ballet barre, and creative movement. This class is for all ages, formatted for the beginner dancer with little to no dance training. Students will study world rhythms inspired by music & choreography.

My Family and Me (Ages 3 - 5 years; Wednesdays - time TBD)

A high intensity cardio class for mom, dad, and the kids. Similar to dance aerobics or Zumba, this class explores movement through various styles of dance, while promoting family wellness and fitness. Families will learn daily stretching and dance cardio routines to their favorite tunes.
