Secrets of the Paper Garden: Spring Flower Workshops at Del Ray Artisans gallery

Spring Bouquet Workshop: Saturday, May 2 from 2-5 pm
Paper Flower Wreath Workshop: Sunday, May 3 from 1-4pm
Alexandria, VA (released: March 26, 2015) – Back by popular demand is multi-media artist Debbie Smith Mezzetta, who will teach students to “spring” into May with two delightful paper flower sculpting workshops on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3, 2015—just in time for Mother’s Day, summer nuptials, and other occasions!
Secrets of the Paper Garden: Spring Bouquet (Saturday, May 2 from 2-5pm) will inspire students as they learn to reinterpret nature utilizing luxurious European crepe and other fine papers! Students will learn basic sculpting techniques to create a variety of spring blooms, buds and leaves to gather into a bouquet for the home or as a gift! These strikingly beautiful flowers are pollen-free, with blooms that will never wilt and don’t require watering. The fee for the Spring Bouquet workshop is $35 for Del Ray Artisans members and $45 for non-members; plus a $15 supplies fee will be charged to all students. Class size is limited to 12 students. Register at: www.TheDelRayArtisans.org/BouquetSecrets of the Paper Garden: Paper Flower Wreath (Sunday, May 3 from 1-4pm) will take the Spring Bouquet process a step further as Debbie guides students in designing a classic paper flower wreath for the wall or a delicate wreath floral crown—perfect for weddings! The same techniques are used to create floral garlands and swags. As with the Spring Bouquet workshop, students will learn how to assemble petals, centers, buds, stamen, calyx, leaves and stems to fool “Mother Nature”! The fee for the Paper Flower Wreath workshop is $35 for Del Ray Artisans members and $45 for non-members; plus a $15 supplies fee will be charged to all students. No experience is needed for either workshop and students go home with a timeless floral memento. Both workshops are part of a series being offered as part of Del Ray Artisans’ MIX: Adventures in Mixed Media art exhibit, which is showing at the gallery from May 1-31, 2015.
