Smallcakes Founder To Attend Del Ray Grand Opening
The grand opening will feature various activities and founder Jeff Martin, who competed on "Cupcake Wars."
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Smallcakes NOVA, a local franchise of the cupcakery and creamery featured on "Cupcake Wars," will hold its grand opening Saturday, Nov. 16 in Del Ray. Founder Jeff Martin, who competed on "Cupcake Wars," will be present for the event from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The business is located at 1506 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria.
The grand opening will also have free mini cupcakes while supplies last, face painting, cupcake and ice cream deals, raffle giveaways and decorate your own cupcake for $5 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Smallcakes makes handmade cupcakes and ice cream in small batches. The business makes around 11 signature cupcake flavors along with a monthly flavor. Among the offerings are chocolate caramel drizzle, lemon drop, red velvet and peanut butter cup. Guests can also find homemade ice cream such as 24 Karrot, cookies and cream, mint chip and more.

Another specialty is the smashcake, or two scoops of ice cream smashed between a cupcake. Cupcakes can also be layered into push pops or into mason jars. For your furry friends, the store carries the pupcake, a carrot cupcake topped with peanut butter icing and crushed milkbones, on weekends.
Founded in 2008, Smallcakes became popular with appearances on "Cupcake Wars" and "The View." The Smallcakes NOVA franchise opened in October and is locally owned. For more information, visit smallcakesnova.com.
