Smallcakes NOVA Cupcakery And Creamery Opens In Del Ray

Smallcakes, which was featured on "Cupcake Wars," has a locally-owned store in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Smallcakes NOVA, a cupcakery and creamery known from "Cupcake Wars," has opened in Del Ray. The business is holding a soft opening Thursday, Oct. 17 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 1506 Mount Vernon Avenue.

At Smallcakes, cupcakes and ice cream are handmade in small batches. The business makes around 11 signature cupcake flavors along with a monthly flavor. Among the offerings are chocolate caramel drizzle, lemon drop, red velvet and peanut butter cup. Guests can also find homemade ice cream such as 24 Karrot, cookies and cream, mint chip and more.

If you'd rather have both, try a smashcake (two scoops of ice cream smashed between a cupcake). Cupcakes can also be layered into push pops or into mason jars. For your furry friends, stop by on weekends for a pupcake, a carrot cupcake topped with peanut butter icing and crushed milkbones.
