Sobriety Checkpoint Saturday In Alexandria

Police announced a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in the City of Alexandria Saturday night.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Drunk drivers beware: Alexandria Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in the city Saturday night.

Police will conduct the checkpoint 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 1 to 5 a.m. on Sunday, July 2. Drivers will be stopped to check for impairment from drugs or alcohol.

Authorities aren't revealing the location of the checkpoint but remind drivers the maximum penalty for a first driving under the influence offense is 12 months in jail, a $2,500 fine and a 12-month suspension of a driver's license. Additional jail time depends on the blood alcohol content of the driver.
