“Symmetry – Balance in an Asymmetrical World” Exhibit at Del Ray

Exhibit Dates: October 5-28, 2018 Opening Reception: Friday, October 5 from 7-9pm

Del Ray Artisans and Union 206 Studio present fine art photography that showcases artists’ visions of Symmetry. Symmetry implies a sense of aesthetically pleasing proportionality that implies balance. Balanced composition can be symmetrical, asymmetrical, or radical where the various elements that make up the image – shapes, colors, texture, and space – are arranged with care to create a harmonious result. This exhibit is at Del Ray Artisans, October 5-28, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, October 5 from 7-9pm.

Henri Poincare acutely described symmetry: “It is the harmony of the diverse parts, their symmetry, their happy balance; in a word it is all that introduces order, all that gives unity, that permits us to see clearly and to comprehend at once both the ensemble and the details.”

The Symmetry – Balance in an Asymmetrical World exhibit is at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are: Thursdays 12-6pm, Fridays 12-9pm, Saturdays 12-9pm, and Sundays 12-6pm. The gallery is free, open to the public, and accessible.
