Tickets on Sale for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Debuting Dec. 18

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters Friday, Dec. 18. The film’s producers made several big announcements this week:

• There’s a new promotional poster (above).
• A new trailer is out this week (watch it below).
• Tickets are now on sale.
• Marathon screenings of all seven films will run in select theaters.

Billed as “the ultimate fan experience,” the marathon Dec. 17 will include all seven movies (there’s a marathon scheduled for AMC Tyson Corner 16 and possibly others to come). The first six films will be screened in 2D, before the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 3D. Guests will also receive a lanyard featuring exclusive movie marathon art.

Regal Cinemas will also have a Force Awakens exclusive offer. Each Saturday, from Dec. 19 to Jan. 9, the first 500 guests for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX at Regal locations will receive a collectable ticket featuring unique Star Wars: The Force Awakens art. It doesn’t look like Potomac Yard has an IMAX movie theater but you will find them in Ashburn and Manassas.

The film will be playing in IMAX at AMC Hoffman 22 in Alexandria, and at the Air & Space Museum IMAX theaters in DC and in Chantilly.

On Fandango, Star Wars: The Force Awakens ticket buyers will be automatically entered into a sweepstakes for the chance to win a trip to the film’s world premiere. Ten runners-up can win a collectible “Dark Side” or “Light Side” prize pack.
