I-395: Virginia DRPT Invites Public to Open House

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation invites the public to attend an Open House on Sept. 21 to discuss highway study.

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) invites the public to attend an Open House to discuss the status of its I-95/I-395 Transit/Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Study. The public Open House will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, at City Hall, (301 King St.) in the Sister Cities Conference Room (room 1101).

The purpose of the I-95/I-395 Transit/TDM Study is to develop a comprehensive list of transit and TDM projects that would be eligible for funding from revenues generated by the I-395 Express Lanes Extension project. If the Express Lanes Extension project is approved, the Commonwealth of Virginia has committed to providing a minimum of $15 million per year to fund transit and TDM projects along the I-95/I-395 corridor. DRPT staff will be in attendance at the Open House to answer questions.

As part of the study, DRPT has developed a survey to gather information about transit and TDM needs along the I-395/I-95 corridor. Regular commutes in this corridor are encouraged to take the survey.

For additional information, please contact Todd Horsley, DRPT’s Director of Northern Virginia Transit Programs, at todd.horsley@drpt.virginia.gov or 703-259-2117.
