Watch: Alexandria Police Dogs Receive Body Armor

Your beloved furry friends from Alexandria Police now have extra protection thanks to a generous donation.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Just as protective equipment is important to protect officers, it's crucial for the animal partners that assist them. Thanks to generous donors, the furry friends at the Alexandria Police Department have some extra protection.

In July, the Alexandria Police Department learned it would received ballistic and stab-protective vests for k9s Odin and Zeus. Nonprofit Vested Interest In K9s Inc., which provides custom-made bullet and stab protective vests to law enforcement dogs, set up the donations.

Police have since received the vests, one sponsored anonymously and the other by Alexandria residents. K9 Odin’s vest is sponsored anonymously and reads, “In memory of Dr. John T. Dailey & Poncho.” K9 Zeus’s vest is sponsored by Alexandria residents, and reads, “Gifted by Anne Best Rector & Timothy O. Allen.”
