Who's Endorsing Who in the Alexandria Mayor's Race
With the election 19 days away, the campaign to become Alexandria's next mayor is heating up.

With the election 19 days away, the campaign to become Alexandria’s next mayor is heating up.

On one side: Bill Euille, who has served four terms as mayor, is hoping voters will write in his name on the ballot.
On the other side is the winner of the Democratic primary, Vice Mayor Allison Silberberg. She has been a member of the City Council since 2013.

Euille has said that Silberberg won the race because votes were split between three candidates and some Republicans supported her campaign. Former Mayor Kerry Donley, who also ran in the primary, has thrown his support to Euille and is actively campaigning for him.
During the primary, Euille was endorsed by The Washington Post.
So who’s backing who in this race?
Bill Euille supporters include:
- Del. Rob Krupicka, who announced his retirement from state politics earlier this year to concentrate on a new business, Sugar Shack. “Under Euille’s leadership Alexandria has survived economic downturns and won countless accolades as a great place to live, with low crime, wonderful arts, improving schools, increased parkland and more,” Krupicka said in his announcement of support for Euille.
- Jim Moran, former congressman (and former Alexandria mayor)
- Kerry Donley, former mayor who ran against Euille this year in the Democratic primary
- Justin Fairfax, Democratic attorney general candidate and co-chair Sen. Marker Warner 2014 campaign
- Gayle Reuter, Del Ray Business Association: “We have a lot at stake, and we have made too much progress as a community to risk our success. Mayor Euille’s steadfast leadership has been the driving force in our economic growth. I fully support his write-in campaign for re-election.”
- Lonnie Rich, former City Council member: “With Bill Euille, we have a proven leader. He is knowledgeable and balanced in his approach to almost everything. There has been no one in Alexandria who has worked harder at bringing people together and searching for common ground than Bill Euille. He has been “steady at the wheel,” and he deserves credit for the progress of the City over the last decade.”
- Northern Virginia Realtors Political Action Committee trustees: “Throughout his tenure as Mayor, he has shown that he is willing and able to work with the City Council, the residents of Alexandria and outside stakeholders to find innovative solutions to the issues facing city government. Mayor Euille has proven leadership experience and he understands how to grow Alexandria’s economic prosperity now and in the future,” said Lorraine Arora, 2015 chair of the NV/RPAC trustees and the managing broker of the Weichert, Realtors® Fair Oaks.

Allison Silberberg supporters include:
