With the Oct. 5 personal property tax deadline approaching, residents now have more 24/7 and in-person options to check balances, print receipts, and avoid late fees.

Fairfax County supervisor calls for return to recycling glass products at curb (ffxnow.com) — Fairfax County is weighing a return to curbside glass recycling, as Supervisor Pat Herrity urges colleagues to phase out the Purple Can Club and modernize trash services. County staff are exploring new waste-management ideas amid financial pressures, while glass markets and processing technology have improved, potentially making at-home glass recycling both more convenient and cost-effective for residents.

3. Clear the Shelters (ffxnow.com) — Fairfax County Animal Services is waiving all pet adoption fees from August 21–23 at its Michael R. Frey Campus on West Ox Road in Fairfax and at the Lorton Campus. Residents can adopt dogs, cats, and small animals, and those choosing pets six or older receive a $250 care credit at Pender Veterinary Centre, thanks to Friends of Fairfax County Animal Shelter.

Wyclef Jean with the Fairfax Symphony (tysonstoday.com) — The Fairfax Symphony is teaming up with Wyclef Jean for a one-night concert on October 25 at Capital One Hall in Tysons, offering a symphonic spin on his biggest hits. Fairfax-area music fans can catch the Grammy winner with full orchestra, with tickets going on sale to the public this Friday, August 21 at 10 a.m.

This Fairfax County High School Was Again Ranked Among Top 10 In The Nation (patch.com) — Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County has again been ranked among the top 10 high schools nationwide, placing sixth overall and first in Virginia. The selective STEM-focused Governor’s School draws students from Fairfax County and nearby jurisdictions, including the City of Fairfax, and continues its long streak of national recognition.
