490 Employees Laid Off By Merrifield-Based Custom Ink LLC: Report

Merrifield-based Custom Ink LLC recently notified 490 employees across the U.S., including 83 in Virginia, they were being laid off.

FAIRFAX, VA — Custom Ink LLC, a custom printed shirts and other swag company based in Merrifield, informed 490 employees — including 83 in Virginia — on Dec. 8 that their jobs were being eliminated, the Washington Business Journal reported on Tuesday.

This is the second round of layoffs the Custom Ink has issued in the past 12 months, according to the report.

Roughly half of the jobs being eliminated — 240 — were at the company's Dallas production facility. Custom Ink told the Business Journal that it was closing the "to improve performance and better align the business with its tech-oriented growth strategy.”

In addition to its Merrifield headquarters and retail space, Custom Ink has five other Virginia locations— Alexandria, Charlottesville, Leesburg, Reston, and Richmond.
