It's On, Rain or Shine: 4th of July Parade in Fairfax City

A decision will be made Monday on whether the fireworks and music show will be held, due to the weather forecast.

UPDATE Sunday: The 50th Annual City of Fairfax Independence Day Parade will go ahead on Monday, rain or shine, the City announced Sunday.

The Parade steps off at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4, in downtown Fairfax.

Decisions regarding the evening show and fireworks will be made Monday and posted by 7 a.m. There is a 90 percent chance of rain Monday in Fairfax, according to the National Weather Service.

The City of Fairfax will host its 50th Annual Independence Day Celebration on Monday, July 4, with a parade, a gathering of superheros, a firefighter competition and, of course, fireworks! Here's a schedule of events:

  • Independence Day Parade - 10 a.m. to noon - Downtown Fairfax (Rain or Shine)
  • Fairfax Museum & Visitor Center Open House - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - 10209 Main St.
  • Ratcliffe-Allison House Tours - 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - 10386 Main St.
  • Superhero Fest - noon to 1 p.m. - SunTrust Bank parking lot (across from Fire Station #3) - Meet and take photos with all your favorite superheros! In attendance will be Batman, Superman, Robin, Flash, Spiderman, Ironman, Super Girl, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Captain America.
  • Old Fashioned Fireman's Day - 12:30 p.m. - 4081 University Drive - Firefighter competition, food & beverages, fun for the kids!
  • Evening Music Show & Fireworks - 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. - Fairfax High School, 3501 Rebel Run - Rain date is July 5th (Fireworks Only) Look out for some special surprises during the event!

6 p.m. - The Hackens Boys
7:30 - City of Fairfax Band
8:00 - Presentations of Awards
8:20 - Party Like Its...
9:20 - 1812 Overture by the City of Fairfax Band
9:30 - Fireworks!
