5K Run/Walk At Fairfax Memorial Park To Raise Funds For Make-A-Wish

Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home and Fairfax Memorial Park are hosting a 5K run/walk on Sunday, Sept. 3 for Make-A-Wish.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home and Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery are hosting a 5K run/walk on Sept 3 to raise money for the local Make-A-Wish chapter. The charity helps the wishes of terminally ill children in the Fairfax area come true.

Fairfax City Mayor Catherine Read will kick-start the event and Kaylan King of Make-A-Wish will also address participants and event volunteers. Runners/walkers are asked to register in advance by Aug. 25.

The 5K run/walk will take place Sunday, Sept. 3, on the grounds of Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery, which is located at 9902 Braddock Road in Fairfax Same-day registration starts at 9 a.m. and the run will begin at 10 a.m., with the walk starting at 10:10 a.m. The winners celebration is scheduled for 12 p.m.

The Burke Station Road entrance to Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery will be closed starting at 9 a.m. and will remain closed through the duration of the event.

Parking for the event is in the parking lot net to the funeral home or inside the cemetery. Cars should use the Braddock Road entrance to the park to access parking.
