62-Year-Old Carwash Employee Fatally Injured In Fairfax City Crash

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 62-year-old Fairfax woman died from injuries she received after being struck by a car exiting a city carwash on Saturday morning.

City of Fairfax Police officers responded around 10:56 a.m. to the Flagship Carwash located at 10874 Fairfax Blvd. for the report of three employees being struck by an automobile.

A preliminary investigation determined that after exiting the carwash in their vehicle, a customer struck another car before hitting three employees. All three were taken to Fairfax Hospital to be treated for their injuries, according to police.

One of employees, whom police identified as 62-year-old Martha Clemencia Nguyen of Fairfax, sustained life-threatening injuries. She later died from her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene. Police say that neither speed nor alcohol appear to have contributed to the crash.

Mayor Catherine S. Read released the following statement on Saturday about the crash:

A tragic incident unfolded this morning in Fairfax City injuring three Flagship Carwash employees, one of whom succumbed to her injuries, Martha Clemencia Nguyen.

Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and others witness this event unfold. Such an unexpected loss of life impacts our community and we share the grief many are feeling who know the victims and bystanders.
