89-Year-Old Oakton Man Dies In Electric Bicycle Crash In Fair Oaks
Fairfax County Police are investigating a fatal collision involving an electric bicycle that occurred midday Thursday in the Fair Oaks area.
FAIR OAKS, VA — An 89-year-old Oakton man was killed when the electric bicycle he was operating struck a car midday on Thursday in the Fair Oaks area, according to Fairfax County Police.
Officers responded around 12:14 p.m., for the report of a person riding an electric bicycle colliding into a car at the intersection of West Ox Road and Tilton Valley Drive near Penderwood, according to reports.
Investigators determined that Richard Albrecht was turning left onto southbound Ox Road from westbound Tilton Valley Drive, when he struck a Kia Optima traveling southbound on West Ox Road in the right lane.

Albrecht was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police. At this time, detectives do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
