Abduction, Assault Charges Filed Against 49-Year-Old Driver: Police

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 49-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including abduction, in connection with an incident that occurred Saturday in Fairfax City.

City police responded to Old Fire Station 3 at 3988 University Drive for the report of an intoxicated driver. The officers located a vehicle weaving erratically nearby with a female passenger calling out for help, according to a report.

After making a traffic stop, the officers determined that the driver and passenger knew each other. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver assaulted the passenger and kept her from leaving the vehicle, according to police. They also established that the man was intoxicated.

James Buis of an undetermined address was arrested, taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with abduction, assault, DUI and two counts of obstruction of justice, according to police. He was then held without bond.
