FAIRFAX CITY, VA — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Fairfax City area, Patch shares information provided the students' families and Merit News.
Colin McCarthy of Fairfax was named to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.
Riley Rhoder of Fairfax was named to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.

Ken DeDrosta of Fairfax was named to the president's list for the fall 2021 semester at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. DeDrosta, who is earning an A.B. international studies degree, was named to the list because he was in the top 3 percent of undergraduate students in their division.
Daniel Klein of Fairfax was named to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester at Paul Smith's College in Paul Smiths, New York.

Hannah Polk of Fairfax was named to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. To earn a spot on the dean's list, a student must complete 12 or more credit hours and earn a grade point average of 3.4 or above.
Margeaux Townley of Fairfax was named to the 2021 dean's list at University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Townley, who is majoring in political science BA and criminology BA.To earn a spot on the dean's list, a student must complete 12 or more graded hours and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above.
The following cadets from Fairfax were awarded gold starts for the fall 2021 semester at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina:
- Joseph Cervi
- Julius Gibson
- Thomas Kyte
To earn a gold star at The Citadel, cadets must earn a 3.7 or higher grade point average. Gold stars were presented to cadets during the school's Jan. 28 awards parade.
The following undergraduate students from Fairfax graduated with honors during commencement ceremonies in December at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia:
- Veronica Giron of Fairfax graduated magna cum laude with a degree in communication studies.
- Nicole Penrose of Fairfax graduated cum laude with a degree in health services administration.
- Kyra Martin of Fairfax graduated cum laude with a degree in nursing.
- Andrew Meyers of Fairfax graduated magna cum laude with a degree in nursing.
