Airport Arrest In $45K Embezzlement From Fairfax City Gas Station

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A man who stole more than $45,000 from a Fairfax City gas station in 2019 before fleeing the country was arrested at Washington Dulles International Airport on Wednesday, according to a police release.

An investigation by police revealed that 33-year-old Ajay Poreddy of no fixed address had been an employee of the Exxon gas station located at 10480 Fairfax Blvd. in Fairfax City.

Around 6:30 p.m., on Feb. 15, 2019, Poreddy stole money from the gas station's cash register and safe, before fleeing on foot, according to police.

Officers from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department arrested Poreddy at Dulles Airport shortly after he returned to the U.S. on Wednesday, according to the release.

After being taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, Poreddy was charged with felony embezzlement and held without bond.
