Andy's Pizza Coming To Former Matchbox Location In Fairfax City
Andy's Pizza is coming "later this winter" to the former home of Matchbox in the Point 50 shopping center on Fairfax Boulevard.

FAIRFAX, VA — Anyone driving at night on Fairfax Boulevard may have noticed a large neon sign glowing red at the former home of Matchbox pizza.
While the "Andy's" sign seems to indicate that the Washington, D.C. pizza chain's new storefront in Fairfax City will soon be opening, scant information was available as to an exact date for the "official opening " at the Point 50 shopping center location.
Patch emailed the company for more information, but received a response of "Sometime later this winter."

Since March 19 is the last official day of winter, the message could mean that the company plans to open its Fairfax City location in just over a month.

A visit to the empty storefront on Wednesday morning found windows covered with brown paper and a notice of Andys Pizza Fairfax Blvd LLC's application for a Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority license taped to the front door. The company's request to serve beer and wine, as well as mixed beverages, was still pending, according to the VA ABC website.
Andy's Pizza was also advertising on Indeed.com for a cashier and bartender to work at the Fairfax City location. Both job listings were marked "Hiring Urgently!"
In January, Fairfax City Permits & Licensing issued two signage and one commercial use & occupancy permits to the pizza company.
