FAIRFAX, VA — Another Broken Egg Cafe marked the opening of its new Fairfax restaurant with a ribbon-cutting near George Mason University, bringing its Southern-inspired breakfast, brunch and lunch menu to Northern Virginia.

The cafe opened at 10645 Braddock Road, Unit B2, at University Mall. The Fairfax restaurant is owned and operated by Demetrios and Megan Florakis of EOS Ventures Inc., a Virginia-based franchisee that also operates Another Broken Egg Cafe locations in Williamsburg and Virginia Beach.

“We're a high-end brunch concept,” Demetrios Florakis said. “It’s a culinary experience when they come to our restaurant. We prepare all our dishes fresh every day. It’s nothing you’d experience at any other breakfast chain.”

A Southern-Inspired Brunch Concept

Jorge Salvat, president and CEO of Another Broken Egg Cafe, described the restaurant as “southern-inspired” and “chef-driven,” with an emphasis on both food and service.

“I think the food is first and foremost, but then beyond the food, it’s also about the experience,” Salvat said. “You expect to come here and be treated with that southern hospitality friendliness.”

The Fairfax restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., serving breakfast, brunch and lunch. The menu includes brunch dishes, lunch options, children’s meals, gluten-friendly and vegetarian selections, as well as a full bar with cocktails, mocktails, mimosas and Bloody Marys.

Salvat said the company’s motto is “happy people sharing happiness.”

“It’s all about creating joyful moments for our guests,” Salvat said. “It’s not a transaction for us. It’s really about an experience, both on the culinary side, but on the experience on the service side.”

Fairfax Location Near George Mason University

Teh Fairfax area had long appealed to the franchise group. Megan Florakis said she grew up in Old Town Alexandria and has family in Woodbridge.

The Braddock Road location was formerly a McDonald’s. Demetrios Florakis said he and Salvat were driving through the area when they saw the property.

“We stopped in to see it, and George was like, ‘This is gonna be a great location for Another Broken Egg,’” Demetrios said. “So we signed the lease before that even went on the market.”

Megan Florakis said the restaurant’s proximity to George Mason University also was a factor. She added the family previously developed IHOP restaurants around Virginia and often looked for sites near universities.

“We always like to be part of the community,” Demetrios Florakis said.

Megan Florakis said the family enjoys being close to college campuses and serving college students. Salvat said Another Broken Egg Cafe has several locations near universities around the country, including the University of Florida, the University of Georgia, Auburn University and Purdue University.

Seasonal Menu Includes Lobster Omelet

Another Broken Egg Cafe changes its menu quarterly and adds seasonal items throughout the year, according to Demetrios Florakis.

“It’s constantly evolving, which is unique to our brand,” he said. Recent seasonal items include a champagne lobster omelet and a crab cake Benedict.

“Especially being in this area, getting the crab cake right is so important. We’re excited about that," Salvat said, adding that the Fairfax cafe also offers a full bar and “creative mocktails with matcha,” along with other on-trend brunch drinks and dishes.
