Arson Investigation Sparked By Smoldering Lumber At Fairfax Work Site

Workers discovered smoldering lumber on Aug. 16 in the basement of a home under construction in the Fairfax area.

FAIRFAX, VA — Fire investigators are asking the public's help in identifying those responsible for an arson incident that occurred in the basement of a home under construction in the Fairfax area, according to a blog post.

Around 9 a.m., on Aug. 16, workers discovered a large, stacked pile of 2x4 finished lumber smoldering in the basement of a home in the 11500 block of Leehigh Drive, according to post. Fire crews responded to the seen and extinguished the fire before it had a chance to spread.

Investigators believe the fire was set sometime between Monday night, Aug. 15 and Tuesday morning, Aug. 16. They found a few cans of original flavor Twisted Tea at the scene.
