Malicious Wounding, Firearms Charges File In 2022 Double Shootings In Fairfax City
An Ashburn man is facing malicious wounding and firearms charges in connection with two shooting incidents last December in Fairfax City.

On May 4, 2023 City of Fairfax Police arrested a subject in connection with two shootings that occurred on Fairfax Boulevard between Fairchester Drive and Lion Run on December 8, 2022.

Investigation revealed that the driver of a vehicle traveling westbound on Fairfax Boulevard discharged a firearm which struck a vehicle traveling eastbound. The sole occupant of the vehicle that was struck sustained minor injuries not considered life threatening. Officers then responded to a second shooting into an occupied vehicle that occurred in the area of Fairfax Boulevard and Fairchester Drive, approximately two miles away. The sole occupant of the second vehicle was not injured.
The Criminal Investigations Division investigated the case and obtained warrants for two counts of Attempted Malicious Wounding (18.2-26) and one count of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (18.2-53.1). With the assistance of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Avion Smith, 24, of 20162 Breaton Bay #303, Ashburn, was taken into custody and transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond.
