Assistance League of Northern Virginia nominated for 2017 FCPS Community Partner of the Year award

Assistance League of Northern Virginia Recognized by Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)

The Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools has chosen Assistance League of Northern Virginia as a finalist for the 2017 FCPS Community Partner of the Year award. This award recognizes businesses and non-profits for “above-and-beyond leadership and social responsibility within the FCPS school system”. Each of the five nominated finalists provide valuable programs and service to support FCPS students and schools.

Assistance League of Northern Virginia was nominated by Christine Slattery, Principal of Garfield Elementary School and Janet Dougherty, School Counselor at Garfield Elementary School in recognition of the organization's Weekend Food For Kids Program. This program provides nonperishable food to children who receive free or reduced-price meals during the school year at Title I schools in Fairfax and Prince William Counties and the City of Alexandria.

The award will be presented to the winner during the Superintendent’s Luncheon held on Monday, November 20th at 11:30 at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner.
