Attempted Robbery At Gunpoint Outside Home Depot Leads To Arrest

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City Police responded to a 911 call around 6:19 p.m., on Sunday, from a person who said that someone they knew tried to rob them at gunpoint outside the Home Depot.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the 911 caller was confronted by the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Robert Kennedy of no fixed address, in the store's parking located at 3201 Blenheim Blvd., according to police.

Kennedy then pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded their belongs, according to the victim, who was able to escape and call police.

Locating Kennedy nearby, police transported him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with attempted robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of felony, brandishing, and carrying a concealed weapon without permit. Kennedy was then held on a $4,000 secured bond, according to police.
