Bank Robbery Self-Thwarted in Fairfax: Police

A man attempted to rob a HSBC bank Thursday, according to Fairfax Police, and then apparently changed his mind before fleeing on foot.

FAIRFAX, VA — A a man decided he would rob the HSBC bank, 3925 Chain Bridge Road, Thursday afternoon. And so he gave it a try. But while in the act of attempting to do so, he apparently had a change of heart. That's the word from Fairfax Police.

Shortly after high noon, seemingly a perfect Hollywood moment for a bank robbery, a man entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. Then? He more or less did a "Ah, never mind," 180 and fled the area on foot.

He's described as white or Hispanic, 30-40, 5-7 and around 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark green hooded sweatshirt, dark pants — possibly jeans — and sunglasses. The case remains under investigation.
