Block Party Coming To Downtown On Friday Night

A portion of University Drive will be closed for the Rock the Block concert series.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — From 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, one block of University Drive will be closed between Main Street (Route 236) and North Street in downtown Fairfax City. This closure is for Rock the Block! #TGIFairfax, the city's free summer concert series and block party held on the fourth Friday of the month through October in the Old Town Square.

Friday night's event will feature The Rockets, an area rock band, and will include city food vendors, a beer garden, games and more. Here's the current concert schedule:

  • June 23: The Rockets
  • July 28: The Reagan Years
  • Aug. 25: Alex Hilton Band
  • Sept. 22: White Ford Bronco
  • Oct. 27: Vinyl Invention
