City of Fairfax Schools Participate in Annual Spotlight on the Arts

Fairfax city schools participate in Spotlight on the Arts festival.

The City of Fairfax celebrates the arts this month in their 28th Annual Spotlight on the Arts April 19th - May 10.

Founded in 1985 as a collaboration between the City of Fairfax and George Mason University, the three week festival is aimed to enhance community awareness of the many arts and cultural opportunities in Fairfax and encourage the expansion of the arts through supporting fledging arts organizations in the community.

This year the festival will incorporate more student work than in the past. With contributions from all four city schools and the Fairfax Academy for the Communications and the Arts, student work will range from sustainable art to a variety of musical performances including the first annual Battle of the Bands, a choral concert with students from all four schools and cultural dances.
