Fairfax City - A Well-Kept Secret
Fairfax City - My Take: New to the City? Watch out for the 4-ways and don't forget to get your city decal!

As a Fairfax City resident, albeit new one, mother of Lanier 7th-grader, officer of election for the city and real estate agent, I find I'm loving Fairfax City!
Having grown-up in Arlington, I didn't pay any attention to Fairfax City. Hardly knew it existed. However, to my good fortune, I discovered it. My move here came out of necessity more than choice; and without a thought for how living in Fairfax City would impact me, my first introduction came in the form of a ticket for no city decal. My second, a ticket for not "completely" stopping at a 4-way. Well, how-do-you-do?!
On the brighter side, I've met some very fine people of the city. The small-town familiarity, the kindness and friendliness of the residents and the city officials is refreshing. The community celebrations, events and involvement through religious affiliations, other groups or independently is heartwarming and exciting.

I enjoy looking past our current growth, through the remaining relics into the history and imagining the way it used to be. I'm interested in our residential real estate market and how people develop their property and add on to their homes. I like to consider how the land flows and which way the water runs. I guess, because it runs right past my door! I want to know what the city is planning for future development.
I could not have imagined a small town would be found in this big metropolis we live in. I'm very happy I moved here. I hope to stay.
