Saturday, May 4th will mark Fairfax CASA’s third annual Run for the Children 8K Race & 3K Run/Walk.
The month of April has been recognized as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. In honor of this national movement, citizens are asked to engage in at least one act this month that promotes the awareness or prevention of child abuse. By signing up for this cause, you will join people across the nation in taking a stand against child abuse and neglect.
Each year, Fairfax CASA hosts this event to raise funds for their advocacy work with Fairfax County’s abused and neglected children. The race benefits the work of over 150 CASA volunteers advocating for the rights of over 500 abused and neglected children right here in Fairfax County. This year the race will be held at the Fairfax County Courthouse complex and will feature lively music, delicious food, great prizes, and exciting giveaways.

The Fairfax Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program was founded in 1989 by a group of community-minded Fairfax County citizens responding to a request for a CASA program from the Fairfax County Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court (Court). Since that time, Fairfax CASA has operated as a 501(c)(3) public charity accepting support from individuals, corporations, and public funds to ensure that children who are victims of abuse and neglect are placed in safe and permanent homes as quickly as possible.
