CA Man Wanted For Computer Fraud Arrested On Fairfax City Warrants

Police officers in San Bernardino, California arrest a man wanted in the City of Fairfax for computer fraud and money laundering.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Police officers in San Bernardino, California arrested a man wanted by City of Fairfax Police in connection with fraudulent financial transactions that were reported last November in the city, according to a police release.

CFPD's Criminal Investigation Division on Nov. 22, 2021 determined that unknown persons had twice accessed the victim's E*TRADE Financial Corporation account and stole more than $48,000, according to police.

Investigators also determined that the money was laundered by sending to another account. A third transaction was attempted but was declined because of suspicious activity, according to police

Fairfax City Police identified 63-year-old Aleksey Ivashenkov of 1248 Walnut St., in San Bernardino, as a suspect in the case. Arrest warrants were obtained, charging Ivashenkov with two counts of computer fraud, one count of attempted computer fraud, and one count of money laundering, according to police.

Officers from the San Bernardino Police Department arrested Ivashenkov on Sept. 13. He was then taken to the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, where he awaits extradition to Virginia.
