Cab Driver Assaulted After Being Stiffed in Fairfax: Police

Suspect was found shortly afterward with help from a Fairfax Police K-9 unit.

FAIRFAX, VA — A cab driver was assaulted Thursday night at a McDonald's in the 10700 block of Fairfax Boulevard by a man who refused to pay his fare and then fled on foot with three companions before being sniffed out by a K-9 unit, according to Fairfax Police.

Daquan Carson, 18, of 640 Marten Place northeast in D.C., was charged with assault and battery and procuring a vehicle with intent to defraud.

Shortly before 10 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault at the business, and the cab driver said after being stiffed and being assaulted, Carson, another man, and two females bolted.

But the police dog found him.

Larceny from Vehicles
3051 Pickett Road / Thaiss Park Parking Lot – On October 12 at 5:05 PM the owners of two vehicles reported that their parked vehicles had been forcibly entered and damaged and items had been stolen, including a bag of clothing and a purse containing cash, credit cards and identification.

Vandalism
3700 Block of Lyndhurst Drive – On October 12 at 6:14 PM a homeowners association officer reported that unknown person(s) had broken into multiple storage units and had damaged locks on several others. Nothing had been found to have been taken.

DUI Arrest
Main Street / Fairfax Boulevard – On October 12 at 7:24 PM an officer investigating a traffic crash determined that one of the drivers involved was under the influence of a substance. Rachel Melinda Ward, 41, of 13001 Aderman Court, Lake Ridge, Virginia, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where she was charged with driving under the influence.

Larceny
10360 North Street / City of Fairfax Regional Library – On October 13 at 3:51 PM the victim reported that on October 12 between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM unknown person(s) had taken her wallet which had fallen out of her book bag. The wallet contained cash, credit cards and identification. One of the credit cards subsequently was used to make an unauthorized purchase.

Begging Arrest
9617 Fairfax Boulevard / 7-Eleven – On October 13 at 8:12 PM an officer investigating a report of a disorderly subject begging in front of the store determined that the subject was intoxicated. Cloy Michael Williams, 56, of no fixed address, was transported to the Adult detention Center where he was charged with begging and drunk in public.
