The Woman’s Club of Fairfax Hosts Free Community Shredding & Food Drive Event

The Woman’s Club of Fairfax is proud to host its second annual Free Community Shredding & Food Drive Event on Saturday, September 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Fairfax High School parking lot (3501 Lion Run Fairfax, VA 22030).

This free event offers community members a safe and secure way to shred personal documents while giving back to local families. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for the Fairfax High School Pantry, along with up to five boxes of documents for shredding.

Important guidelines for shredding:

  • Accepted: paper documents (up to 5 boxes per household)

  • Not accepted: cardboard, binders, magazines, heavy plastic, or trash

The event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Atlantic Union Bank and the Fairfax High School Booster Club.

Last year’s event had an incredible impact:

  • 3.82 tons of paper shredded → saving 20 trees, 2,041 hours of electricity, and 6,117 gallons of water

  • 3,011 food items + $180 in donations collected for the pantry

  • 203 cars served in just three hours

It’s a simple way for neighbors to support the environment, fight food insecurity, and keep sensitive information secure. We hope to see you there!
