Carjacking At Fairfax City 7-Eleven Leads To Arrest Of MD Man: Police

Police charged a Germantown, Maryland man with carjacking for an incident that took place in the parking lot of a Fairfax City 7-Eleven.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police arrested a 31-year-old Maryland man early Sunday morning for a carjacking that occurred in the parking lot of a local convenience store, according to a release.

Officers were called around 2:40 a.m., to the 7-Eleven located at 3910 University Drive for the report of a carjacking in progress.

Police say that Preston Woods of 13037 Town Commons Drive in Germantown, Maryland entered an idling vehicle that was occupied. He then punched a passenger in the chest and tried to take the victim's cellphone, according to police. In the process, Woods forced the victim out of the vehicle and drove away. The victim was uninjured.

With the help of Fairfax County Police, city police officers located and took Woods into custody.

After taking Woods to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, police charged him with carjacking, felony eluding, attempted robbery, assault and battery, and false ID to a law enforcement officers.

Woods remains in custody without bond, according to police.
