Chesterbrook Academy Donates 350 lbs of Food to Food for Others

Students from eight schools partnered together to hold a food drive for the Fairfax-based organization

Students at seven Chesterbrook Academy schools in Northern Virginia – including Ashburn, Chantilly, Sterling and Woodbridge – and the Esther Peterson Child Development Center at the Department of Labor in Washington, D.C., recently partnered to hold a food drive for Fairfax-based organization Food for Others. Beginning Nov. 13, the schools worked hard to collect donations to help feed those in need in the Northern Virginia area. On Nov. 22, a group of students and teachers from Chesterbrook Academy Kids Campus in Chantilly delivered the food donations to Food for Others’ facility. During their visit, students weighed their donations, which totaled 350 pounds, and took a tour of the facility. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of giving back to the community, especially during the holiday season.

The mission of Food for Others is to obtain and distribute free food to the hungry of Northern Virginia and to support food programs of other community-based organizations. Food for Others provides a channel for people to help their neighbors by actively volunteering their service. For more information, visit www.foodforothers.org.
