City of Fairfax Band to Perform 'Music at the Box Office'

Concert Saturday night by the City of Fairfax Band will feature classic compositions from the silver screen.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA -- Hollywood is coming to Fairfax City this weekend, when the City of Fairfax Band, conducted by Robert Pouliot, performs some of the Silver Screen's classic compositions.

The program, set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Fairfax High School, features music of famous 20th-century Hollywood composers, including Erich Korngold, Jerry Goldsmith, and Aaron Copland.

Clarinetist Dennis Strawley, concertmaster of one of the nation's premier military bands, will perform John Williams' Viktor's Tale, from the Spielberg film The Terminal.

The program includes the following selections:

  • The Wind and the Lion, Jerry Goldsmith
  • Viktor's Tale from "The Terminal," John Williams, trans. Lavendar

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for senior tickets. The concert takes place Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Fairfax High School, 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax. Find ticket information here.
