The City of Fairfax Band Association was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Cardinal Bank Community Fund.
The Tyson’s Corner-based bank gave the 220-member association the check last week. Andrea Hsu, flautist and student winner of the Association's 2013 Young Artist Competition, helped accept the check, along with Fairfax City Councilmember Ellie Schmidt.
The band association consists of two adult bands, one youth band, and six small ensembles.
