Cost To Gas Up In Fairfax City Before Christmas 2017 Travel
If you're planning to drive to a holiday destination in the next few days, you might want to fill up the tank somewhere besides here.

FAIRFAX, VA — If you're planning to drive to a holiday destination in the next few days, you might want to fill up the tank after you depart. That's because, according to GasBuddy.com, gas prices in Fairfax City are around ten cents higher than the Virginia average.
Early Thursday night, prices in the area averaged about $2.32 per gallon. Statewide, the average is $2.23. Nationally, we're talking an average of $2.42, according to AAA.
In Fairfax, meanwhile, the five lowest-priced gas stations checked in as such: Costco at 4725 West Ox Road ($2.19 per gallon), BJ's at 13053 Fair Lakes Shopping Center ($2.19), Sunoco at 9626 Fairfax Boulevard ($2.33), Sunoco at 4647 West Ox Road ($2.33) and Royal at 10423 Main Street ($2.34).

GasBuddy has Washington DC with averages of about $2.25 per gallon at the lowest-priced stations. If you're headed a couple of hours south to Richmond, the lowest prices average around $2.05 per gallon.
All of that ties into what AAA is predicting to be quite the busy holiday travel season, perhaps even record breaking. From Dec. 23-Jan. 1, the travel safety organization says 107.3 million folks will hit the road, as it were, via planes trains and automobiles. That would be the highest year-end travel volume on record — and a 3.1 increase from a year ago.

A total of nearly eight million people living in Virginia, Maryland, and the Washington metro area will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Christmas/New Year's Holiday travel period. Of that number 7.2 million of those travelers will drive to their Christmas and New Year's Eve holiday destinations.
Forty-four percent of the Washington metro area's 6,131,977 residents plan to take a trip for the Christmas/New Year's holiday travel period with 91 percent of them traveling by vehicle.
