Counterfeit Money Transaction In City Leads To Arrest Of MD Man
City of Fairfax Police arrested a Maryland man they say knowingly passed off counterfeit money while purchasing a gaming device.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police arrested a Maryland man recently for knowingly using counterfeit money to purchase a gaming device in the city, according to a police release.
Police say that around 7:29 p.m., on Jan. 21, Demartez Trequan Thomas, 23, of Lexington Park, Maryland, was taking part in the private sale of a gaming device in the Turnpike Shopping Center area. During the transaction, he passed off counterfeit currency. During their investigation into the incident, police determined that Thomas had been involved in similar incidents across the D.C. metro area.
Thomas was arrested on Feb. 17 and charged with conspiracy to commit uttering and obtaining money by false pretenses. Uttering is knowingly passing off false or forged documents or writings as if they are real. He was released on a $1,000 secured bond.
