Dominion Energy is preparing to upgrade technologies at the Fairfax Substation in Fairfax City.

To create a more modern grid and enable the successful integration of renewable energy resources, Dominion Energy has plans to update equipment originally installed at the Fairfax City substation in the 1950s.

All improvements will be within the current substation footprint on existing Dominion energy property on Main Street (see map, right).

After all necessary permits and approvals are received, construction activities will commence in the spring 2024 and continue through fall 2025.

You may see increased activity in the immediate area during construction.

Dominion Energy will update customers as activities progress.
