FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Public Works crews responded early Friday morning to the 3700 block of McLean Avenue, where a large tree had fallen and was blocking the entire road.

The tree likely was brought down by the thunderstorms that had passed through the area overnight. No injuries were reported.

Around 7 a.m., Fairfax City posted a downed tree alert on social media, advising residents to avoid the area. City work crews had requested additional equipment and there was no estimate on when the tree would be cleared from the road, according to a post on X (formerly Twitter).
