Early Voting Begins March 6 In Fairfax City For Redistricting Amendment

Voters in Virginia will cast their ballots on a proposed constitutional amendment regarding congressional district redrawing.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Early in-person voting for the April 21 special election allowing voters to consider a proposed constitutional amendment for the Commonwealth of Virginia is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 6.

The amendment concerns the General Assembly's ability to redraw congressional districts for the U.S. House of Representatives.

All registered voters in Virginia are able to cast ballots in the special election on April 21, either in-person or by mail.

The last day to register to vote or update existing registration is April 14. Beginning on April 15, voters can register to vote and cast a provisional ballot on the same day. Voter ID requirements.

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.

For the April 21, 2026, Proposed Constitutional Amendment Special Election, early in-person voting in Fairfax City begins on Friday, March 6.

  • Hours:
    • Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Saturdays (April 11 & 18): 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Sundays: Closed

The last day to apply for a mail ballot is April 10 at 5 p.m. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before April 21 and received by 12 p.m. on April 24. The last day to drop off a mail ballot in a Drop Box is 7 p.m. on April 21.
